Nicole's Granny's Famous Stuffing!

One of our instructors shared her Granny's Famous Stuffing with us! Check out her recipe below that has been in her family for years and is a favorite for anyone who has tried it!

2 cups (1lb) butter (Margarine)
2 cups chopped celery stalks and leaves
1 cup chopped onions
½ lb (3cups) fresh sliced mushrooms
14 cups dry bread cubes
¼ cup chopped parsley
1 tbsp sage
1 tbsp salt
1 tsp pepper
1 tsp poultry seasoning

Melt butter in large heavy skillet.  Add Celery, onion and mushrooms; cook until onion is yellow, stirring occasionally.  Stir in some of bread cubes, heat, stirring to prevent browning.  Combine with remaining ingredients in large bowl.  Toss lightly.  Cool and pack loosely in turkey.

Before roasting turkey, brush skin with melted butter.  Cover with a loose tent of foil, pinch together at ends.  During roasting, baste your turkey occasionally with juices.

• 2-4 day old bread is best for stuffing.  Makes enough for 14lb turkey.  Extra stuffing may be baked in a covered casserole during the last 30-45 min of roasting time.
